Sibundoy Chumbe Vanity
Lucía Echavarría
The octagonal wood vanity with matching stool is inlaid with chumbes, woven geometric ribbons traditionally used as belts by the Kamentsa community in Putumayo, southern Colombia. The round mirror frame is designed with an elaborate wrapping technique using cotton thread. This circular shape echoes the traditional ceremonial crown used by the community usually adorned with narrow chumbes.
