MEXICO CITY ART WEEK 2025

CASA ESTUDIO MAX CETTO

Mexico City, February 4-8, 2025 – Mexico City, February 4-8, 2025 – UNNO Gallery, which promotes for Latin American design around the world founded by Maria Dolores Uribe, returns to Mexico Art Week. This year, the gallery presents a site-specific installation at the iconic Casa Estudio Max Cetto, a hallmark of modern Mexican architecture, curated by Estudio 84 in collaboration with cc-tapis and Flos.

Exploring the theme of Metamorfosis, the exhibition invites viewers on a profound journey of transformation—both physical and symbolic. It examines the evolution of forms, ideas, and materials, revealing new perspectives that shape our understanding of existence. Through this immersive experience, UNNO Gallery highlights design’s ability to continually reinvent itself, pushing creative boundaries and embracing innovation.

UNNO Gallery will showcase works from a select group of emerging and established designers, each offering unique perspectives on transformation.

Presenting their work with UNNO Gallery for the first time:

  • Moretti Martin – Known for their exploration of material and space, they will present the Olas Cabinet and Tumba Stool, both engaging with the fluidity and interaction of forms.

  • Ōmbia Studio – Founded by Colombian designer Cristina Moreno, Ōmbia Studio blends textures and unconventional shapes to honor its Colombian roots. The COSTA Coffee Table will be featured in the exhibition.

Returning designers:

  • César Núñez – Fusing art and industrial design, Núñez’s works explore a reconnection with nature and cultural heritage. His timeless pieces invite reflection on the enduring link between design and the environment.

  • Andrea Vargas Dieppa – Drawing from her Colombian heritage, she bridges tradition and innovation by experimenting with native materials, creating pieces that are both contemporary and rooted in cultural history.

  • Habitación 116 - H116 is a distinguished interior design studio known for crafting spaces and furniture that blend contemporary aesthetics with deep-rooted Mexican traditions. Their work reinterprets heritage techniques, bridging the gap between artisanal craftsmanship and modern design.

  • UNNO Gallery proudly represents Habitación 116 on the international stage for its furniture collections. This year, the studio presents 'Brutal', a collection defined by monolithic volcanic stone pieces, meticulously hand-carved to evoke a raw yet refined materiality, showcasing the studio's commitment to architectural strength and artistic expression.

The exhibition also features cc-tapis, presenting a new collection by New York-based designer Eny Lee Parker, alongside the Raag Collection (2024) by British design duo Doshi Levien, both offering a rich exploration of texture and form.

For the first time outside Italy, Flos will exhibit one of its historic lighting collections, providing a fresh perspective on its enduring design legacy.

The exhibition will take place Casa Estudio Max Cetto located in Mexico City’s Jardines del Pedregal neighborhood, which is a defining example of modern Mexican architecture. Built in the 1950s, the house is an emblem of the area’s modernist identity, nestled in volcanic lava fields. Visitors will have the rare opportunity to explore this architectural treasure, a space where design, nature, and history seamlessly come together.

On February 4th, the exhibition will open at 11 am with a press event featuring a design talk moderated by Omar Sosa of Apartamento magazine. The panel will include designers Eny Lee Parker, Jeff Martin, Andrea Vargas Dieppa, and Cristina Moreno, offering insights into the intersections of art, design, and transformation.
